Understanding how people cope with life, especially in the most extreme situations, has always interested me; hence going into a profession where one is able to do so and make sense of life events is rewarding in itself.

I believe that in order for therapy to truly work, you need to be in a comfortable space with a therapist you can be yourself with, as the journey is shared by both of you.

More about Meagan

I completed my masters in Clinical Psychology at Nelson Mandela University where I was fortunate enough to have my practical training split between an adult psychiatric hospital and the community clinic. I dealt with  children, teenagers, couples, adults and special needs children. (I was part of the multidisciplinary team at Quest School for Autistic Learners which sparked my interest in children with special needs).

During my community service year, I was part of the team at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital where I not only worked with the children, but their families as well. This experience gave rise to dealing with medical conditions, severe trauma work, behavioural issues, childhood neurological disorders and parent-child work.

As part of an outreach programme, I was a facilitator for Tough Love, which is a support group for families who have someone struggling with drug addiction.

The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them
