Hi, I am Divine Bitalo

Counselling Psychologist

PS 0164968  PR 1279866

I was drawn to Psychology the way one is drawn to a vast painting: with countless characters, different colours, and engaging stories being told. Life as well as its challenges much like a painting can often feel daunting to approach, it is understandable that one may feel overwhelmed by this.

For me, becoming a psychologist was not about providing quick fixes nor giving advice. I deeply believe that human beings have the capacity for change; however change requires the gaining of awareness and insight, the courage to act on found insight and a suited support to journey towards one’s most authentic self.

More About Divine

In therapy, my first hope is to stand by you, providing holding for this metaphorical “vast painting” without judging its content.

The process of realising that one is a character in the painting occurs by gaining self-awareness which is the ability to perceive one’s own thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Understanding of the characters’ motivations, patterns and reasons underlying said thoughts, feelings and behaviours is the process of gaining insight.

Although self-awareness and insight are key to change, personal agency is where one metaphorically “picks up the paint brush” and actively engages with the work to become the person one wants to be.

Some parts of the painting have been there for years and won’t change, accepting those parts while engaging with parts one can change is essential in making meaning which can in turn contribute to a whole and fulfilling life.

How liberating it is to pursue wholeness instead of perfection.
