Hi, I am Chandre Dreyer
Counselling Psychologist
PS 0139556 PR 0586868
I ventured into the psychology profession as I am fascinated by the intricate workings of the human mind and body, and the complex development of human personalities and behaviours. I also realised that my own demeanour has helped individuals in various ways prior to becoming a psychologist as I have a kind and patient nature, and I wanted to use my strengths to empower others.

More about Chandre
I am a registered and practicing counselling psychologist; I received my Master’s degree in Social Sciences (Counselling Psychology) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). I previously completed my Honours degree in Psychology, and my undergraduate degree (Biological Sciences in Human Physiology, Genetics and Psychology) at the University of Pretoria.

My philosophy to empowering an individual entail present-orientated, goal-driven, strength finding therapy, as well as helping individuals gain balance within their social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and academic/work needs. Empowering an individual also entails increasing an individual’s self-awareness, i.e. identifying your thinking patterns, your emotions, and your behavioural patterns. Empowerment of an individual is achieved by working from an integrative approach which includes knowledge and experience in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), BrainWorking® Recursive Therapy (BWRT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Play Therapy.

I have gained therapeutic experience at UKZN's Psychology Clinic on the Howard College campus, at The Kenmont School in Durban, at the Student Counselling Unit at the University of Pretoria, at the Jacaranda Children’s Home in Pretoria, at the Benoni Therapy and Assessment Centre, the Rynfield Therapy and Assessment Centre and at ARC (Addiction and Recovery Centre). I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults. Collectively, the knowledge I have gained and my experiences have provided me with an elaborate understanding of psychopathology, human behaviour, and therapeutic approaches, that I utilise to assist individuals effectively with their specific and unique difficulties.
